At the heart of the Rideau Canal Waterway lies Smiths Falls – a town that is rich in heritage, and punctuated by a warm-hearted population and scenic landscapes.
Aiming to position itself as a vibrant and forward-thinking place to live, work, and play, a new brand and revitalized website became essential for the town.
The lines falling downward from the ‘S’ are a literal representation of the falls, the bottom of which reveals the Rideau Canal and the three lock stations that opened trade routes and allowed the town to flourish. The logo’s corresponding tagline, ‘Rise at the falls’, indicates the prosperous direction the town is headed and the bounty of opportunity available to those living within it.
Following the launch of this project, Smiths Falls received national recognition from the Economic Developers Association of Canada in the category of ‘brand identity’.
Rewarded for its innovative, contemporary design, the logo is flexible enough to be featured on apparel and promotional items, as well as on formal documents and signage.
To coincide with the logo, a modular website was designed and developed to showcase information about municipal services as well as upcoming events.
It features a payment gateway, events calendar, interactive map, and opportunities to connect via social media.
Additionally – despite the town’s modest budget – CT poured its resources into customizing a facility bookings plugin rather than building it from scratch, providing great savings to the town.
The many facets of this project have captured the spirit of Smiths Falls' innovative community, positioning it as a standout place to live, work, and play.
